ICYMI: How social media reacted to Leclerc's emotional win on home soil in Monaco

Charles Leclerc was unable to contain his emotions as he crossed the line in Monaco to take his first victory on home soil. He wasn't the only one swept up in the moment though, with the other drivers, teams and plenty of celebrities overjoyed for the Monegasque. Some were quick to take to social media to offer their congratulations, while others just wanted to document a very special set of celebrations...

Only one way to celebrate in Monaco

Leclerc absolutely had to go in the harbour - and he wasn't going in alone. His Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur was sent in first, before Leclerc executed a very impressive dive to show up his boss. And yes, Ferrari got it on video for the world to see.

Future team mates

Lewis Hamilton was one of a huge number of drivers to come and offer congratulations in person, the Brit knowing how special it is to win on home soil. These two will be team mates next year of course - when Hamilton will get to experience the joys of racing for the Scuderia himself.

George Russell also offered his congratulations, as did former world champion Nico Rosberg, who said: "Super happy for Charles, winning at home feels special."

Current team mates

Carlos Sainz provided serious back up to Leclerc in Monaco on Sunday, knowing his job was to ensure his team mate wasn't troubled on his way to the flag. With the Spaniard also finishing on the podium, he was right on hand to celebrate with Leclerc.

No one knows more about Leclerc's home troubles than Sainz, who has had a front row seat to the aftermath of Leclerc's disappointing results here. He was another who was quick to offer his congratulations, giving his team mate a big hug after the duo parked up in front of their ecstatic mechanics.

Gasly ready to party

Pierre Gasly grew up on the karting scene with Leclerc, and made it very clear he was inviting himself to all the post-race parties in Monaco.

The Frenchman is another who has seen first hand how much Leclerc has suffered on home soil, with the duo close friends. And with Gasly scoring a point himself, he also had plenty to celebrate in Monaco on Sunday night.

A family matter

Leclerc sadly lost his father a few years ago, and admitted he was thinking of his dad as he drove round the final few laps of Sunday's race. His mum was on hand to watch her son's victory though, as were his brothers.

Fellow racer Arthur was swift to let everyone know just how much his brother's win meant to the whole family, who have been through so much together.

Double Monegasque podium

Of course, while the world celebrated Leclerc's victory, there was even more reason for Monaco to be revelling on Sunday - thanks to a double podium. In case you missed it, Leclerc offered to adopt Oscar Piastri prior to the weekend so that the McLaren man could declare this another home race.

It clearly worked, with the 'family' members sharing a very special podium.

Game knows game

Kylian Mbappe is no stranger to big occasions, and the French football captain and World Cup winner was treated to another when he got to wave the chequered flag to spark huge celebrations up and down the pit lane, later telling Leclerc "You deserve it!".

The GOAT in attendance

Mikaela Shiffrin swapped the snow for some sun when she attended the Monaco weekend with partner and fellow skiing legend Aleksander Aamodt Kilde.

They clearly enjoyed themselves, hanging out down at RB, watching some Aston Martin pit stops - and of course, making sure the last word was congratulations to Leclerc.

The man of the moment

Leclerc himself kept his post short and sweet - after all, he had a party to get to. Sharing a picture of himself and Monaco's Prince Albert, he simply captioned it "best day ever".

And it's hard to disagree with that sentiment.
