Get Caught Up On The Greatest Sequel Series Before New Episodes

Set two decades after the events of the hit series That ‘70s Show, That ‘90s Show brings audiences back to the town of Point Place, Wisconsin, and into the very familiar home of Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty Forman (Debra Jo Rupp). It’s here that Leia (Callie Haverda), the daughter of the original series’ characters Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Laura Prepon), spends her summers. The first season saw Leia make friends with the locals and build a group that she could hardly wait to see by the time the next summer rolled around.

Now in its second season, That ‘90s Show follows Leia and the rest of the gang as they’re finally reunited after several months. Leia and Jay Kelso (Mace Coronel) continue their romantic relationship, while Kitty tries to convince Red to step out of his comfort zone. Meanwhile, there are also plenty of other hi-jinks going on with the rest of the teenagers at the center of the series: Gwen (Ashley Aufderheide), Ozzie (Reyn Doi), Nikki (Sam Morelos), and Nate (Maxwell Acee Donovan). 

Just like the first season, the follow-up installment of That ‘90s Show has paid homage to the decade it was named after, with nods to the music, fashion, and housing goods of the time. It’s a truly fun time capsule for audiences, especially those of us who grew up with the original series as a weekly favorite. Along with Red and Kitty, other characters from That ‘70s Show have dipped in and out of Season 2 with Laura Prepon reprising her role as Donna in a recurring capacity, as well as peeks of Don Stark’s Bob Pinciotti and Tommy Chong’s Leo. 

One thing we’re missing from the second season of That ‘90s Show is the involvement of Prepon’s fellow ex-cast mates like Ashton Kutcher, Wilmer Valderrama, and Mila Kunis, who each reprised their roles in the sequel series’ first season. Still, the series is overflowing with on-point cameos like Seth Green (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as the edgy manager of a Hot Topic store and even a brief appearance from Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith). 

When it was first announced that Netflix would be moving forward with That ‘90s Show and continuing the story that last left off in 2006, audiences were worried how true the streamer would stay to the title to come before it. But the production team did a wonderful job of blending the old with the new, giving us the tentpole characters of Red and Kitty while folding in a new group of teens to grow attached to. 

With the next eight episodes arriving in just a few days, now is the perfect time to get caught up on That ‘90s Show now streaming on Netflix.
