Jack Ryan Spinoff On The Way From Fan-Favorite Marvel Star?
Ant-Man star Michael Pena is joining season 4 of Amazon's Jack Ryan as Domingo Chavez, with the plan for the character to lead an upcoming Rainbow Six spinoff.
Seeing Michael Pena rattle off elaborate tales as Scott Lang’s (Paul Rudd) friend Luis is one of the best things about the Ant-Man movies. But what if Pena led a covert counterterrorist team of elite operatives? We may get just that as ScreenRant reports we may be getting a Jack Ryan spinoff, Rainbow Six, which will star Pena as Domingo “Ding” Chavez.
The name Rainbow Six will certainly ring a bell for fans of the Tom Clancy novel and the video game series of the same name. The Jack Ryan spinoff will supposedly be set up in the upcoming fourth season of the Amazon series, which is also going to be its final season. With Amazon moving on from the flagship Jack Ryan show, Rainbow Six will keep the franchise going.
The John Krasinski Jack Ryan series has been a pretty big hit for Amazon, so it’s no surprise that a spinoff is on the way. Amazon already brought us another Tom Clancy project in 2021 with Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse, based on the character John Clark. Michael B. Jordan played the role and the film was fairly popular on the streaming platform.
Interestingly, John Clark is the one who forms the Rainbow counterterrorist organization in the novel, and puts his son-in-law Domingo Chavez in place as one of the team leaders. It remains to be seen if they keep the same set-up for the Jack Ryan spin-off or if Jordan would be returning as Clark for Rainbow Six. It would certainly make sense for Without Remorse and Rainbox Six to connect in some way.
Jack Ryan was renewed for its fourth and final season way back in October 2021, so we’ll likely be hearing about a release date and hopefully getting a trailer soon. Right now, plot details are being kept under wraps but Michael Pena is listed as a member of the full-time cast after his introduction in Season 3. This should give us plenty of time with Ding Chavez and part of the season will undoubtedly be setting up the Jack Ryan spinoff.
Along with Michael Pena and John Krasinski, the fourth season will also star Wendall Pierce, Michael Kelly, Betty Gabriel, and Abbie Cornish in the main cast. Other than Pena, there haven’t been any rumors for these characters to show up in the Jack Ryan Rainbow Six spinoff. It’ll likely be a while before we hear anything official about the new show.
Production for Season 4 of Jack Ryan began back in February of this year, so we’re bound to get more official information about the series soon. If the fourth and final season is as popular as previous seasons, it would not be surprising if Amazon pursued more Jack Ryan spinoff series and movies in the future. For now, a Rainbow Six show is definitely something to look forward to.
While we wait for Season 4 of Jack Ryan and more news about the spinoff series, you can stream the first three seasons on Amazon Prime. If you’re wanting to get familiar with the Rainbow organization, you can play the most recent entry to the video game franchise Rainbow Six: Extraction, which was released earlier this year. Stay tuned for more news about Amazon’s Ryanverse.
