Mithun Chakraborty earned his first National Film Award for Mrigayaa. He also won two more National Film Awards for Tahader Katha and Swami Vivekananda.
The 70th National Film Awards were held in New Delhi on Tuesday. The ceremony honoured the best films of 2022 along with outstanding actors from across India.
Mithun Chakraborty won the National Award for his acting debut with Mrinal Sen’s Mrigayaa in 1976. He will soon receive the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
While one may or may not take to his assertive screen presence, there is no denying that Mithun marked a cultural moment in Indian cinema, which is what the award acknowledges.
