As a longtime fan of handheld gaming, a  Xbox handheld would be awesome! Having owned almost all of the Nintendo and Sony handhelds and Steam Deck, I can say that Xbox should definitely make their own dedicated handheld. I can only imagine how awesome it would be to play Forza, Halo, Gears and also download my Xbox back catalog to play on the go. That would be amazing!

He keeps hinting at running other storefronts on Xbox devices. If it's a full PC / console hybrid that can run Xbox's stuff, plus PC games off Steam/Epic/Gog, then I'd be very interested.

I hope this is not just a PC with the existing PC ports and Game Pass, but a full Xbox handheld with console compatibility.

Even my grandma wants this and she’s been dead for 33 years. 

The make or break for me would be that it needs to have my already purchased xbox games to be playable on the go locally. If this is just a PC game pass machine then why wouldn't I just buy an ROG Ally or Legion GO. My Xbox library is 100's of purchased games on top of my game pass. There are tons of games I bought that I would love to play on the go. I currently cannot with my steam deck. I also cannot if I purchased an ROG Ally or Legion GO.

Xbox admits they lose money on the console. No way they release a PC-based handheld, so they lose on TWO platforms. If anything, the handheld will be a streamer, like the PS portal. It will be a dumb terminal. And yes, it will require always online to play. This won't be something to bring camping or on a plane... unless you pay extra for the connectivity.

Lol they want to try and copy the Switch but since we know that games like Black Ops 6 will require a constant internet connection it will have to be more like the PS Pulse or whatever that failure of an idea from Sony is called. Plus they won't be able to add enough storage to handle 310 GB games (not to mention the hundreds of gigs of updates) so it will also be cloud based. Phil is such a terrible leader.

Let’s see how they’re going to screw this one up. 

Confirm? If anything he sidestepped the entire issue and deferred to the CEO.

I hope it's specs are at least series s level. I'll be disappointed if it ends up being a stream screen.

An xbox handheld? I mean sure why not, the console is already struggling hard. Best to compete with the steam deck and Nintendo lol

An Xbox handheld is completely pointless unless it was just for cloud gaming or remote play like the Portal. As Phil said himself, there's already the ROG Ally the Lenovo Legion Pro, and the Steam Deck. Every single one of them can play all the games on Game Pass or via Cloud. An actual localized handheld would strictly be a cash grab that they'd lose their a$$es on.

I already have this, it’s called my phone # cloud gaming….

And then turns right around and allows Activision to require a constant internet connection just to play the damn Black Ops 6 campaign. That handheld is going to be just like Sony’s Portal…when the internet is down or even unstable for some reason, gamers use it as a coaster for their cold drink…
