Audio Hijack 3.1 can listen for the sound of silence
Audio Hijack 3.1 adds new and powerful features to the app's tool belt. The two major additions in this update are silence monitoring and file actions.
Silence monitoring, found under the updated "File Limits" section of the Recorder Block, controls how Audio Hijack handles silence. For one thing, you can control exactly what the app thinks "silence" is by setting a silence threshold in decibels. You can also set when Audio Hijack should remove silence from a recording.
You can now take action on files. In the recording tab, highlight a recording and tap the Actions button at the bottom of the window. From there, you'll be able to show the file in the Finder, open it in the audio editor of your choice, add it to iTunes, and share using OS X's built-in share sheet.
Audio Hijack 3.1 adds other features as well, including higher sample rates for AIFF and WAV recordings, new keyboard controls, and better handling of missing audio devices. It is a free update to existing Audio Hijack 3 owners, while new users can purchase the app from Rogue Amoeba's website.
