Nintendo has announced that New Pokémon Snap is set to release on April 30, 2021 for Nintendo Switch. The highly anticipated title is a follow-up to the popular Nintendo 64 game that launched all the way back in 1999. To accompany this announcement, Nintendo released a brand new trailer showcasing the Lental region that players will be exploring.
According to Nintendo, the Lental region is full of vast deserts and dense jungles, the perfect places for Pokémon to be hiding. Alongside Professor Mirror, you'll research a few special Pokémon and vegetation in the region that appear to have a special glow to them, as seen by Meganium at the end of the trailer. This Illumina Phenomenon plays a major role in the game as you uncover the mysteries behind it.
The game will have over 200 Pokémon to photograph, but they all appear to be from previous generations. Unless Nintendo has some surprises up its sleeve, I wouldn't expect a new set of Pokémon here. That said, you never know what the future holds.
New Pokémon Snap is up for preorder today and retailers for $60.
