Spotify begins rolling out new Podcast subscriptions platform

- Spotify is rolling out paid podcast subscriptions.
- The feature is coming to the U.S. from today.
- Users will have to make a submission to join a waitlist in order to be considered for monetization.
Spotify is today rolling out its own paid podcast subscription platform, following the announcement of Apple's Podcast Subscription last week.
The company stated:
The feature, available through Anchor, will come at no cost to the creator as they keep 100% of subscription revenues, with a 5% fee coming into effect in 2023.
Spotify says 12 creators will be involved in the first participating group:
Spotify has also unveiled a collaboration with NPR to publish sponsor-free shows for paid subscribers:
