What you need to know

  • Beats Studio Buds are now on sale in the United States and Canada.
  • The earbuds are available at Apple Stores in the US and Canada.

After their announcement last week the new Beats Studio Buds are now available to buy. You can walk into most Apple Stores in the United States and Canada and walk out with a pair right now, while next-day delivery is also available at the online Apple Store depending on your location.

The new earbuds offer some of what AirPods Pro offer, but not all. Active noise cancelation and Transparency mode are included and you get a 24-hour charge when using the case. There's USB-C instead of Lightning and three colors to choose from. So far, so good.

But things go downhill when you notice there is no Apple W1 or H1 chip inside, so no instant device switching like Apple's own earbuds. Still, priced at $149, these things have a lot going for them.

Beats was born to deliver music as the artist intended. Beats Studio Buds are engineered to deliver powerful, balanced sound in a compact design, through an entirely customized acoustic platform. A proprietary, dual-element diaphragm driver resides within a two-chamber housing, resulting in clear sound with outstanding stereo separation. An advanced digital processor then optimizes audio performance for loudness and clarity, while simultaneously ensuring clean noise-cancellation. The result — immersive sound that pulls the emotion of music from the studio to your ears to keep you going all day long.

I'd still lean towards the AirPods Pro because of that instant device switching feature. If you're of the same mind, check out the best AirPods Pro deals we could find, and maybe we'll get the price a little closer to Beats Studio Buds after all.
