TalkTalk offers six broadband packages – each with differing advertised broadband speeds. Before you sign up, you’ll get a personalised estimated speed for your home, and you can cancel your contract within 30 days if you don’t receive the speed advertised.

In our survey, 57 per cent of customers rated TalkTalk’s speed as excellent. The provider scored 78 per cent for overall customer satisfaction.

You’ll need to check whether your postcode is eligible for each of these packages. Other factors that could affect your actual download speeds include the number of devices connected at a certain time, the size of content you’re downloading or streaming, and the router’s location in your home.

Get a personalised speed estimate before you sign up

TalkTalk has opted in to Ofcom’s voluntary Broadband Speed Code of Conduct, which aims to protect customers by ensuring providers are transparent about the broadband speeds they deliver.

TalkTalk provides customers with an estimate of the speed their home can receive before signing a contract. If TalkTalk fails to deliver on this promise, you have the right to leave the contract within 30 days without paying exit fees.

TalkTalk TV packages

TalkTalk offers two TV packages that can be added to select full-fibre broadband deals.

TalkTalk TV Plus

TV Plus includes all of TV Hub’s features with a Netflix standard plan with ads, NOW Cinema, NOW Sports and NOW Entertainment on a 30-day rolling contract.

TalkTalk TV Hub

What extras do you get as a TalkTalk broadband customer?

As we’ve noted, TalkTalk offers a range of perks with its various plans, so it’s always worth comparing these against other providers to get an overview of who’s offering the best deals overall. Some of TalkTalk’s most attractive perks include unlimited downloads, discounts such as the first six months of your plan half-price, and bundled deals, which offer add-ons like streaming service subscriptions and entire-home wifi connection.

TalkTalk operates on the Openreach network, meaning it’s easy to switch between two Openreach providers. Openreach covers providers such as Sky, BT, Plusnet, Vodafone and EE, so if you were previously with any of these providers, TalkTalk will contact them and do the switching for you.

Our experts found that switching to TalkTalk broadband takes between one and two weeks. Compared with the other big four providers – Sky, BT and Virgin Media – TalkTalk takes the least time to switch, and the process includes just three steps instead of the average four.

*Survey of broadband customers aged 24-64 conducted on Censuswide, 11-14 March 2024. Survey sample: 2,003 respondents, totalling Sky (489), BT Broadband (412), Virgin Media (396), EE (134), Vodafone (124), Other (102), Plusnet (66), NOW Broadband (45), Three (31), Hyperoptic (14), Community Fibre (8) and Unsure (7). Respondents were asked to rate each category on a five-point scale, from Very Poor to Excellent or from Never to Always, with the option of selecting Don’t Know for each question. For the third question (“What issues, if any, have you experienced with your current broadband provider?”), respondents could select from the following: Price Hikes, Slow Speeds, High Prices, Frequent Disconnections, Poor Customer Service, Billing Issues, Other and N/A. The questions used to calculate our score were “How often, if at all, do you feel the actual speed of your broadband service matches the advertised speed?” “How would you rate your experience with customer service and support from your broadband provider?” “What issues, if any, have you experienced with your current broadband provider? (Select all that apply)”, “How easy or difficult is it/would it be to reach your provider using your preferred method?” “How do you rate the value for money of your broadband service?” and “How would you rate the transparency of pricing and additional fees in your broadband service?”
