A California man is allegedly suing a psychic for fraud after claiming she could remove a curse put on his marriage by a witch hired by his ex-girlfriend.
Mauro Restrepo contacted Sophia Adams after searching for psychics on Google.
Adams’ website positioned her as a “psychic love specialist” and “PhD Life Coach” who offered services such as: “intuitive and psychic readings, spiritual counselling and guidance, emotional healing.”
According to the fraud suit filed with the Torrance Superior Court, this “made plaintiff more confident that he was speaking with a professional that could help him.”
The two exchanged text messages which led to a session at her business in a leased Palos Verdes Estates home.
When he arrived at his appointment, Adams read his tarot cards and reportedly told him he had “mala suerte” or “bad luck.”
She told Restrepo that unless the curse is removed, for a cost of $5,100 (£3,742), he and his family would be “unhappy and in danger.”
“This bad luck was, according to (Adams), placed on (Restrepo) by a witch hired by his ex-girlfriend,” according to the suit.

Despite making a down payment of $1,000, Restrepo said the ‘psychic’ “did not in any way help” his marriage. He has since suffered sleepless nights, anxiety and anguish, according to the suit.
He is now seeking at least $25,000 in damages, plus punitive damages.
The suit also alleges that Adams utilised her home and business to cause harm to others and her husband, daughter and her landlords have done nothing to try and stop her conduct.
Restrepo's other allegations are charges of negligence, civil conspiracy, and both intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
