TLDR: Poor Man's Knock Brasstown

This is a hidden gem of "pouch cases." At first glance it looks to be a canvas material but it is actually a smooth nylon textured fabric that is very similar to high quality bookbags. Zipper is large and secure and outside pocket is nice for a couple of pens. Opening the pouch gets you a hug fold out flap that can easily accommodate 12-15 pens/pencils. The flap is a little smaller in length than a rotring 600, but when folded up the case is large enough to accommodate the 600. The internal mesh pouch is small and can hold an eraser or a couple of lead boxes. The whole package folds up very nicely and I will likely be buying another one. My only wish is that some more fun colors get made.

I’m gonna offer some unpopular opinions here.

I bought this pen case mostly because there were so many positive reviews. But it didn’t work for me, and ended up being the only item I returned to Jetpens since 2012.

What I found interesting about this pen case originally were the pouch-and-roll in one design and a functioning outer pocket. I was not excited about the color options, and I had doubts regarding the zipper. But hey, it got so many positive reviews.

As soon as I opened the package, I knew I would have no place for it in my life. The seemingly interesting design was neither compact nor easy to use. It was as large as any regular pen case, but you won’t be able to fit as many pens in there, because the space was taken by the roll material. I’ve been using pen rolls for ages before this one, and if you’re like me, you know the hassle of opening and closing the pen roll in a hurry. Well, this pen case was making it worse by adding an extra step to a basic pen roll: you have to pack it in and zip it up. I guess that’s why they put an outer pocket there, but not all my pens have clips and can be stored securely outside.

The material and overall quality was the last straw. I don't like the thick stretch band, I hate the velcro closure for the inner pocket, and I think the zipper feels cheap.

I love stationeries, but I’m a user, not a collector. If I’m to give a suggestion to my past self, it would be “forget about the marketing romance and positive reviews, and only pay attention to what works for you and what you really enjoy.”

Learn from my mistakes, and make a wiser decision.

OMG! Love this bag! Not just from a quality vs cost perspective ( that is awesome too!), but the functionality is great! Can handle a dozen pens/pencils held securely in the roll-up sleeve - and there are additional internal pockets (2) to handle packs of lead, erasers, ink cartridges, etc. For the price, this bag is 100% worth it! Im buying more!

This might be one of the best pencil cases I have ever had. I was a little hesitant with the roll up, but I am glad I pulled the the trigger. I love how it can hold so many pens/pencils in a compact case and the additional storage for leads or sharpeners is great. The external pocket is one of the best features, rapid access to a pen or pencil without having to open the roll. The quality and the price really make this a worthwhile purchase.

Functional and well-built, this pen case effortlessly swallowed up seven pens, a double-sided highlighter, and a Mac USB dongle with room for more. The pen roll is easy to pull out, the zipper operates smoothly, and the hook-and-loop closure on the inside mesh pocket is wicked strong.

However, something to be aware of is that the elastic of the pen loops is quite thick, making it difficult to insert pens with tight clips (I'm looking at you, Conklin Duragraph). Sliding the whole pen underneath the elastic isn't a super work-around because it can fall out when the roll is unfurled. That said, it may not be an issue depending on the pens you have—experiments with Lamys, Noodlers, Kawecos, and the Pilot Vanishing Point were all fine. If I could give 4.5 stars I would, but this one disadvantage doesn't warrant knocking off a full star because overall I've been very happy with the case.

I love this thing! It’s my favorite pen case out of about 5 or 6 I own. The hard part is figuring out which pens to bring. I just wish they made one that fit about ten more pens, but that’s just me. I carry about 20 in this for note taking purposes and just want to be greedy lol
