Disappointed in the opacity of the white. It takes 4-5+ layers to get something that looks like white. I recommend Pro White with a brush or pen, just keep the jar wet. I can also recommend the Signo white gel pen. It will give a nice white line, though a little thick, but it does the job for fine drawing.

I really love this pen, it's not super opaque but that can be fixed by going over an area a few times. It's most opaque when you do slow small strokes. I bought this pen mostly because once its dry you can go over the highlight with alcohol based markers!! It creates a really neat effect and doesn't seem to clog up the nib even when you go over it a few times! When you first use this pen wait for the ink to seep into the chamber and into the brush or else when you press ink will come out the sides. It needs to be stored vertically btw. I keep it in its original plastic bag to prevent leaks from getting everywhere if it gets squished when it's in my pen case. It will dry quickly on the brush tip if you leave it out without a cap but water should be able to fix that. You might not want to throw away the yellow ring it comes with you could probably put it back on between uses to prevent large leaks if it gets squished. I haven't tested that, however.

Nice brush pen. The white covers average to low and adding layers for opaqueness as needed. I was able to write over the first layer with a ballpoint pen but did have trouble writing over multiple layers. I did not have problems writing over the ink with the school G fountain pen but i did it lightly. Then when i applied water with a brush over the black and white ink they did mix and got grayed. I like the almost translucent barrel so i can make out the ink level. It'd be neat if i can use the barrel on a Pentel art brush but it twist in the opposite direction. Though i have a few refills, I'm hoping to fill it up with a bottled white ink, will test it out later.

I bought this pen for my travel sketch kit but it is usually more hassle than its worth. It's easier to carry a tube of gouache and a water brush. When it works, it works really well. But its usually clogged or overflowing and several sketches have been ruined from drips. I think the ink might be too thick for the delivery system and this brush works better for broad coverage rather than detail highlights.

I love every other Kuretake product I've purchased and still highly recommend them as a brand.
