Q: Can this pen be converted into an eyedropper pen?
This pen has 1-3 small holes in the bottom of the pen body which prevent the pen from being usable as an eyedropper pen. It is possible to fill these holes with a watertight adhesive sealant such as a two-part epoxy in order to make it eyedropper compatible.
While Pilot does not make replacement nibs for this pen, the nibs of the Explorer, Kakuno, Metropolitan, Penmanship, and Prera are all interchangeable. To remove the nib, grasp the nib and feed on the top and bottom firmly and pull straight out.

This is by far the best beginner fountain pen of all time.
The nib is smooth as silk and the feed is even better than more expensive pens
that I own. This pen is so good I sometimes reach for it over my Lamy 2k and
Sailor Pro Gear Slim.
The only caveat is that I wish this Pokemon edition wasn't so expensive! I get
that Pilot would want to upcharge for a cool limited edition pen with a new
design printed on it that doesn't exist on any other Kakuno pens and will never
be used again. However, I can't wrap my head around how this limited edition
Kakuno is more than twice the price of the regular Kakunos.
The design is adorable though, and looks much better in person than in the stock
photos
Even though this version of the pen costed more than the standard Kakunos, I
just couldn't resist the cute print and color. The pen arrived fast, and it
writes super well! The nib is similar, if not the same as a fine nib of the
Pilot Metropolitan, but somehow I prefer the writing experience of the Kakuno
more -- mayhaps because its built from plastic which makes it lighter for me to
handle.
I've eyedropper converted my Pokemon Kakuno, and a big thing to look out for in
any version of these is the two holes at the end of the pen body, which make it
impossible to fill with ink. If modifying the pen in that fashion freaks you out
(especially since this version is more expensive) you could possibly get away
with reusing/refilling the cartridge that comes with the Kakuno.
Wow! So smooth for a fine tip with little feedback. I used a brown ink refill
for this little pika cutie. Matches perfectly and it’s just so fun to write
with. I was using a kaweco sport before but I really think this one is better.
