I am just starting to learn calligraphy and this set is perfect. I have been a long time fountain pen user, but never used a dip pen. I took the largest nib in the set and loaded it with some of my fountain pen ink and when I put pen to paper, I was amazed at the outcome. For the price, you can't go wrong.

This is everything that you could need to get started, save ink. I didn't realize that I would not only be utilizing every single nib in the set, but requiring every nib within the set. I was greatly underestimating the C-nibs, but they are now my go-to nibs. They allow for beautiful lettering, and only for this. it is very hard to mess up a nice sentence with the C-nibs. The finer nibs are top quality, and allow for standard font sizes, and beautiful flourishes.

On the plus side, the nibs are cheap but sturdy. They are without any kind of tipping, so will feel scratchy if you are used to only fountain pens.

Unfortunately, I could never figure out how to use these with dip inks like India ink or other calligraphy inks meant for dip pens. No matter how carefully I tried to shed excess in on the side of the bottle, the nibs would gush for the first several letters and then give a rather dry feel. Also, the nibs are no smaller than around 1.5mm.

I cannot recommend these unless your application requires dip pens. Otherwise, I highly recommend the Pilot Parallel or Plumix pens in place of any dip pen.
