The eraser in my (very old) Sanford PhD pencil had completely hardened and
yellowed, but these refills fit in the eraser slot perfectly. They are a little
bit long (they extend 1cm past the end of the pencil) but I just trimmed it a
bit.
I just love these erasers!! I recently discovered that they fit perfectly in my
Papermate/Sanford Titanium mechanical pencils too, although they're a little too
long (you can just use them in the mono twist eraser until they get worn down or
you can just cut them shorter.) This is like a match made in heaven! Tombow Mono
erasers are my favorite eraser, although the Boxy is pretty high up there too.
Like the holder its made for, its practical but definitely not the best eraser.
Its too soft and doesn’t eraser darker lines well enough. I would give this
eraser 1-2 stars if the Tombow holder wasn’t as practical as it is in size and
comfortable to hold. Improve the eraser for the holder please.
These work great in my Sanford LOGO 4 mechanical pencils! I'm sorry that
Sanford discontinued the LOGO series and the erasers for it, but these Tombow
erasers will give my pencils many more years of use.
The LOGO 4 originally came with a 36mm long by 6.7mm eraser, that sat flush down
inside the pencil when fully retracted.
The Tombow Mono One is 50mm long by 6.7mm so you need to trim a little length.
On a new eraser, you'll have 36mm down inside the pencil, and I like to keep
about 5mm poking out for use, so I trimmed off nearly 10mm.
The Mono One is noticeably softer than the original Sanford erasers (which were
already medium softness) so it erases very easily. And as long as it isn't
poking out more than about 5mm, it's stiff enough to be perfectly useful (not
too wobbly).
Got a Tombow Mono One pencil? You'll need these. Generously sized for real
erasing action, not those teensy vestigial erasers you typically find at the
other end of mechanical pencils. The eraser material is the same as Tombow's
other excellent white vinyl erasers.
