Conflict among crew or cast members on set is often unavoidable, as it is an inevitable part of the filmmaking process. While clashes may be averted initially, grudges can sometimes linger. This is why it is crucial to have a “powwow,” a gathering of all members to reflect on what had happened today. During the powwow, we sometimes air our dirty laundries and talk openly about any grievances we may have towards each other. Although it may be difficult to NOT take things personally, being willing to communicate openly and hold yourself accountability is an excellent example of your professionalism. It is critical to also remember that when we are on set, we are working; there’ll be hardship and unfairness, but that is part of the job.
