how about i treat my priorities as a business portfolio? when times are good, i can allocate my money to high risk high reward projects, & when situation is volatile, i shift my focus towards safer projects. what i mean to say is, business projects depend heavily on market conditions, & when things are unpredictable, it’s wise to reevaluate high risk projects & possibly delay or scale them back until there’s a economic stability as we expect. we keep our focus on projects that are safe bets, means crucial for business’ core functions. and keep certain resources unallocated so as to meet any further unexpected needs, just like maintaining liquidity for unprecedented times.

two things that are strategically important & must be reviewed at volatile times- cash flow & innovation. focus should be kept on projects that create immediate cash flow to mitigate solvency risks when situation worsens. it’s totally valid to delay or reduce expenditures on projects that aren’t critical for the business’ immediate survival plans. make sure there’s a timely cash flow in the business, probably try to incentivise clients who pay on time. society has brought tremendous changes when the situations were volatile. i believe volatility offers us a chance to think beyond the box, bring innovation to the table through strategies that can help adjust to the economic shifts.
