Here's how you can actively solicit feedback from your boss to enhance your performance.

-Arrange recurring one-on-one meetings with your boss, such as weekly or bi-weekly, to discuss your progress, challenges, and areas for improvement. -Come to these meetings with specific questions about your performance. F After completing a significant task or project, request immediate feedback while the details are still fresh in your boss's mind. This can be done in person, via email, or during a scheduled meeting.

If you want to know how you are going in your role and how you can improve. don't wait call for a meeting and then ask to set a regular 1:1 catch up keep it casual it could be over a coffee etc. its a great way to build rapport and also understand where you can improve in a mentor/mentee environment

When I asked for a one-on-one to discuss how I could improve my performance I would be told I could improve by not wasting time on one-on-ones, that I would be informed if there was a problem that needed to be discussed. And that was when I worked at the big banks. Many do regular one-on-ones and the management usually dreads them and often find them an unnecessary time suck from everyone’s already busy schedule especially when the vast majority of the time there is nothing to discuss. Leave distractions at home and do your job. Be assured, if you have a performance problem, they WILL be talking to you in short order.

Organise a regular 1:1 be it weekly, fortnightly or monthly. This way you are not leaving anything up to chance. When you have your catch-ups communicate about your areas of concern so you can develop them together. If you are not sure of areas of concern ask, how do you think I am doing where can I improve to align with the company's goals.

Create an action plan, this can then be an agenda for each catchup, what you talked about improving on, how you were going to do it and what you have done.
