The biggest learning I have ever under taken is that of understanding what identity is, and it's foundational to leadership. While certainty and conviction will move ourselves and our teams towards our goals, so does the ability to accept despite our facts, we still may be able to do it better. Football (soccer) over the past 10 years has changed massively. Nutrition, health monitoring, managing people, mindset patterns, technology and more have all impacted the game. What was seen as "cutting edge football" in 1996, 2005 and 2020, is now outdated. The reason is simple, it's not all the things I previously stated, its because those in charge were willing to accept their existing identity and how they saw perfection could be bettered.

Goals help you focus in and avoid the fluff. I like to set daily and weekly goals (not too many things) that help guide me and keeps me locked in. Best to have your goals for the quarter/year as well to drive the big picture.

Set good expectations. Strong relationships in the workplace are born from proper expectations and all sides knowing what is expected of them. If you're a manager, your staff should know that you are there to help them when needed but that they are expected to problem solve and figure things out on their own. I've seen and felt too many scenarios where bad expectations were set. This almost always leads to frustrations on both sides.

Remember, ain't nobody getting out of this thing alive. It's not worth it to be constantly stressed, especially in something you spend such a large amount of time in. Your job, your business, your activities should all support your life, not take from it.
