Here's how you can efficiently juggle multiple projects as a video technology professional.

I can't get any more simpler than this. If you're using a project management tool because you can afford it in your budget DO IT. If not, my alternative suggestion is SPREADSHEET, SPREADSHEET, SPREADSHEET. It's not pretty, but you have a great tracker.

Most important thing is - find a time / task management tool that works for you whether it's an app, a spreadsheet or a physical notebook. Then asses the priority of the tasks / projects and go from there. For easier workflow and in situations where projects have the same priority - i break them down in to smaller parts / tasks and evaluate which one is more complex, or will take more time to complete and then take on the one i can fit in to my schedule. This method also helps me manage projects that are larger to reduce the amount of stress and anxiety related to big important projects.

In my experience, specially when i have to juggle multiple projects, multitasking is key. Say i have to wait for a big download of footage - use that time to work on another project or task. Better yet - i like to time the downloads, uploads and big renders with my lunch break!

In this industry, our software is changing all the time. Staying up to date with new features and new software can make the difference between getting a project done on time and turning it in late, especially if you have multiple projects going on at once. Use the time blocking method to schedule regular learning sessions and that way you’ll never fall behind.

I cannot stress this enough - prioritizing your health over work is the most important thing. Take the time to go on a short walk, give yourself small breaks during your work hours if you need to, give yourself a sweet treat after you complete an important part of the project - you deserve it!

For things that require our conscious effort and concentration, it is all but impossible to do two things at once. People often assume (or pretend) that they are multi-tasking, but they are task-switching. Choose what projects you love ❤️ to give one all the attention. Don’t let companies sell you on the myth of multitasking. You need teammates to help take more care of the projects you can’t.
