As leaders, we need to create the ‘environment’ for ALL of our team members to thrive in. ⇢ Some people may not feel comfortable to speak up in a large gathering. ↳ So if we are truly wanting to embrace the differences, we, as leaders, need to actively solicit input from all team members, especially those who may be more introverted or hesitant to speak up. ⇢ I like ‘pass the popcorn’ exercise. One team member starts by sharing their thoughts or answering the question. When they are done, they metaphorically "pass the popcorn" to another team member. ↳ This ensures everyone on the team has a chance to express their opinions.

It replaces certainty with more questions than answers and teaches the value of listening over talking. In the end, beneath all these layers, we are all equally searching for love, recognition, stability, and peace. A leader who understands what's hidden beneath these layers will be able to help their team grow and flourish.

Before they speak up, team members need to feel confident enough to express their feelings freely and at any time. There's no clear boundary between their job, private life, and relationships—each area profoundly influences the others. Therefore, it's crucial to find ways to gauge your team's feelings in real time, even before seeking their input on work matters. Moreover, not everyone is comfortable participating in group sessions or speaking up in front of others, simply because it’s not how they operate. Trying to push them into changing their ways through role rotations or position changes will never be as effective as tailoring your approach to each individual.
