Offering the Best Solution and Alternative solution is the way to go forward. if your Boss / Instant Manager want some work done in a different way , he may be right too, after analyzing still you think that your solution is better instead of being in a conflict, Propose an alternative yet matching solution so that be a win win situation for both parties. However, if you are not 100% paying attention to the feedback or questions your boss has, you will not have the full picture to prepare an intelligent response. You may also be wrong about your position in the first place.
