Here's how you can manage scope creep in a business analysis role.

Clearly defining the project scope upfront is crucial. For instance, during a software development project, I once worked with the team to create a detailed scope document that outlined the project's deliverables, timeline, and boundaries. This helped everyone stay aligned and understand what was included—and what wasn't.

To prevent scope creep, define the project scope early and include it in the requirement document. Get the scope approved and signed off by all senior parties to ensure alignment with the end goal. Train the team and stakeholders on scope management, and conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential issues.
