I have often thought that I might have said something immensely stupid in front of senior stakeholders, and I probably did. But, due to the fact that there was a solid relationship to build on, a long history of trust and constructive exchanges, what I felt was career suicide was not even registered as more than a blip by the partner. Focus on the long run, differences of opinion happen, verbal blips happen, in the long run it's the relationships that's built that will allow fro flexibility and understanding both ways.
