First, determine the key metrics that define scalability for your application. These metrics could include – Response Time, Number of User per minute or hour, total cluster size etc.. Set up a Load Testing Environment – do not do the load testing on a production envrionment. Increase the load to check how the metrics changes. This will help establish a pattern in the resource utilization based on the load. And a point, will help determine where is performance bottleneck.

Establishing a Continuous Monitoring is essential. All the metrics that you are tracking, may be during your load test which can impact an overall performance should be regularly checked. There are many open-source tools which can be installed as part of your application deployment. You can collect some important metrics from OpenTelemetry, Prometheus and then use Grafana to build a dashboard which can give an insight on what is happening at what level.
