Here's how you can prepare for and excel in a data visualization interview.

With strong understanding of fundamentals of excel for data visualization. Learned all types of graph and charts like histogram, pie chart, line graph, bar graph etc. Attempt problem solving projects and work for different industries to enhance the value and make the portfolio, it will give you more confidence and it tells that you are Data Analyst and specialist in Data Visualization.

From my personal experience, there are a lot of tools for data visualization.At the moment, three such tools are majorly used in the marketplace: Microsoft Excel and the Power Query Editor: It is a very powerful native data visualization tool in Excel through which one could transform views of their data into any form. Tableau-It is highly intuitive, able to take large data sets; therefore, quite suitable for sophisticated data analysis and visualization tasks. Tableau provides drag-and-drop facilities to the user for quick generation of insights without much programming. Power BI—Its cloud-based service makes sharing and collaboration easy, along with built-in AI features to answer hidden questions in your data.

-There are many tools available in market and PowerBI is my most favorite. Integration, Transformation and Visualisation is far better than Tableau in my point of view. Remember Data gets visualize first in your mind (as Developer) and then get shows in your Dashboard. Visualize in your mind first and then Reflect it in the Dashboards.

It is important to first understand what visualisation you need to answer your business case and how your data can be used to generate that visualisation. From past experience, sometimes you may need to supplement your data with additional data points. Following that, consider what features the visualisation tool (Tableau, Power BI or others) can best help you. In a corporate setting, sometimes choice of tool will be limited to what’s available in the organisation. You may need to be a bit creative in leveraging the tool’s features to create the visualisation. The visualisation that answers the business question most efficiently is the best choice.

Gain expertise in popular data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, and D3.js. Each tool has its strengths, and being versatile can set you apart. These days I have been using Looker for performing Data Visualization. Built as a cloud-native platform, Looker integrates seamlessly with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, etc). This allows for real-time data analysis without data extraction or transformation. One advantage of Looker is that it supports git integration for version control while Power BI does not. This allows teams to collaborate on data models and dashboards with rollback capabilities.

Practice and make more portfolio as you can, it will give you confidence to tell that you are data visualization specialist or data analyst., And make different projects in different industries.

A portfolio lends credibility to your work, showing the capability of working in close-to-real-life scenarios. Having a few unique projects tells the employer you're a person with critical problem-solving skills and lets you be proactive in working beyond the curriculum. Rather than copying projects, try building new ones as solutions to problems around you. Make use of free data hosting websites such as Maven Analytics or Kaggle, try to gain insights from them, and document your findings. Building your portfolio publicly increases visibility and chances of networking; through that, you can get involved in some pretty cool projects or hackathons.

Very true as your experience only speaks about your expertise.. To gain experience I started with one table CSV dataset, then I moved for more complex data sets. To get most out of BI tools one must experience multi table data base like of some ERP system ex.. microsoft dynamic NAV, SAP, ERP next etc.. Because you will encounter a lot of challenges when you work one multi tabled data set, which will help you gain command over various data modaling concepts.

Every step should be just a stepping stone to another in one telling, where stakeholders are vividly involved and it leaves an impression, which can be recalled. Reading blogs, and taking certifications, books, and publications can be a source of continuous learning. For me, the best way to stay updated is by attending the latest webinars and conferences. These webinars are constantly bringing new technologies and tools. Many of the webinars are also free of cost which might not give us complete tutorials but we can have some idea about the market trends. This helps us to constantly evolve in the field.
