One of the earliest lessons I learned as an environmental engineer was the importance of the operator in realizing the treatment system design intentions. I often say that 5 percent of design is what you learn in university and 95 percent is through experience. Similarly the successful performance and ability for a treatment process to realize the performance objectives for that system is 5 percent engineering design and 95 percent operations. This also extends to the need for the process engineer to keep the operator in mind when designing a treatment facility, and to incorporate features in the design to help and facilitate operators in there tasks.

Always stay curious and be atentive to the experienced ones. Listen and dont be afraid of sharing your thoughts. Mistakes are the most important learnings and be sure you always analyze what went not so well. Share your experiences and show your teams to learn from them. Open your eyes and question!

I feel that having a passion really helps in your work life balance. Job life makes it tough to pursue your passion but once you find that balance, it helps your growth even more and keep you positive.

Take a break from it and make sure you have time to think and be with those you love. When we get so busy that we cease to think and sacrifice our families on the altar of ambition, we are dangerous. We will make bad decisions. Don’t let OUTLOOK run your life. Think, think and lot … converse and listen, listen a lot. Study and then practice, engage with your learning. A burnt out engineer on a job is a liability. A rested thinking engineer is an asset.

Entender que a vida é feita de ciclos e que nem sempre vamos conseguir alcançar nossas metas como planejamos, sendo assim, não deixar de ver todo o aprendizado e evolução que teve e continuar trabalhando com entusiasmo e com foco, para que numa nova oportunidade as coisas aconteçam como você deseja.

Find mentors who understand the value of belief, and whom you trust to hold the corporate knowledge of your peaks and troughs. Pass it on when someone needs the same of you. Sometimes the thing that will carry you through a trough is knowing you gave someone else the confidence to peak. Find good people to believe in and invest through.

Learn to reframe each challenge and difficulty as an opportunity to grow. More you learn through whatever you face, more you drive meaning for yourself and more you create value for others.

I like to have short and long term goals. I also like to have plans for upcoming vacations or parties to motivate me to move forward with a fun gift to myself at the end. Lastly, I agree you need to find challenging coworkers and clients to keep you on your toes.

In my experience what i personally practice now and then to stay motivated towards my career is :- •I celebrate my achievements whether (big or small )along the way to stay motivated; •I surround myself with supportive and like-minded individuals who can uplift me during challenging times; •Additionally, I practice self-care, such as exercise, meditation and hobbies like reading books to recharge and maintain a positive mindset; Most Important Aspect to Remember:- • Focus on the things you can control and learn from setbacks rather than letting them demotivate you. • By nurturing a positive attitude and staying motivated, you can navigate your career journey with resilience and enthusiasm.

Based on the principle that you really enjoy your profession and your associated career: use some of your spare time to study related topics regularly and/or another language.
