How can you balance career development and responsibilities in provider relations?

Ensure you identify the demands of the people around you and set clear goals and targets to achieve it, every individual should ensure that they contribute to the society in whichever capacity they can.

As a business owner, ensure that your current market position is aligned with those that are in your field of business. Seek out those that have succeed in areas that you may struggle with, and ask for assistance or guidance. Mentorship can be tricky when in a competing position, so create friendships and alliances directly tied to your vision, integrity level, that are not based on only knowledge seeking, but quality of life, growth opportunities that are both personal and professional. Set one goal for your company at a time, strategically beta test your ideas and complete one idea before you move too quickly onto the next. Improve weaker areas of leadership with education, and learning.

Know your market. Join coalitions or make them for your market. Find the pain point for your providers and strategize to meet the needs. Contribute and get in front of the community. Do not be afraid to say “I don’t know”. Be open minded and have fun.

My advice is continue to learn and grow. Provider Relations, Network Development and Provider Contracting are all dependent upon each other. Gain experience in each of those areas. Build relationships with people inside and outside of your organization.

I encourage feedback as a leader, because other people can bring new experiences that will help me become better. That is keen in my learning and self development, professional people give you an opportunity to become better. Mentorship is great to have, that's why this platform is so instrumental in becoming better employees, emotional, physically and physiological, and sociological. For example, I applied for a job at the State Attorney Office, and I felt like a million bucks, because I was being part of my likeness rather than my disposition of not belonging. I finally felt, my self defense, and self doubt goes out the window. Because being in the right fit, you shine like a beautiful person.

Giving and receiving feedback are key aspects of a professional life aimed at improvement. It is also not very natural. It requires training and practice. The major point of giving feedback is going it in a constructive way, focusing on facts, targeting one or two points at a time. Receiving feedback require open mind approach to receive the feedback and a good amount of reflection on how the feedback can help grow. Mentorship: if you are not assigned to a mentor, ask for one when you join a new company, or start a new role. If you have a good mentor, he/she will be a great source of knowledge and inspiration as well as guide through your role. creating networks is becoming a more and more important aspect: build a strong one!

I designed and managed a mentorship program for the Naval Air Station Fallon Nevada under the Fleet and Family Svc Center. One interesting lesson was the difference between a structured (and somewhat) mandated program versus an organically grown volunteer program; it revealed that engagement either way lent to better career development. However, organically grown relationships were far more lasting and meaningful. One key to designing the leadership mentor program for NAS Fallon was to develop leaders knowledge and ability to engage and connect more, and to help them identify those protégés they felt they had influence over. Leadership is infectious. Assignments can be used as secondary resort to capture high-potentials.

Mentorship is important to find. Someone who can work with you in helping identifying your goals and pathway based on your own personal likes and dislikes. Identifying your strengths and capabilities. Talk about your challenges and coping skills. A mentor should be open to have you speak to other trusted resources (family, friends and others). Having a good open dialog to ask your mentor questions about these outside conversations. This helps the mentor gather useful information that may not have been known before. Mentorship is about guidance and tracking progress. Feedback is about actions and less about words. Working to complete necessary steps and checking the boxes together. This is the first steps of learning to be independent.

Continuous learning is part of our life. We need to save time in our lives to learn new things: books, articles, webinars...there are plenty of opportunities. It will help enlarge horizons, see different perspectives, acquire new skills or reinforce some.. Choose wisely: ask what your goals are and put the focus on learning on those areas. Identify your weaknesses and focus on how to transform these into strengths.

Having the Degree or Certificate tells others about my qualifications. Having an insatiable thirst for knowledge and desire to continually grow is the drive needed for longevity. There are various management tools to facilitate how to prioritize task. Work life balance is valuable.

It's important to choose your objectives that meet what you really love doing! After graduating from Boise State University with my first masters in Instructional Performance Technology and Human Performance Technology, I'd considered pursuing a PhD in organizational management. In really thinking about that and having taken on class towards that end, I recognized that I am a practitioner more than a researcher and that my experiences have helped build upon my success to influence people and organizations. So I elected to do a second masters - Executive Masters in Business Administration - which helped me to build my skills, knowledge and effectiveness as a practitioner; I am a better, more well-rounded HR professional for having done so.

Organizing your skills and sorting them into categories of where you acquired the skills. Having the ability to describe in detail what tasks and actions you have practiced on your current or past employment. Let start with “Soft skills and Hard Skills”. Using your people soft skills to share your story of how you got interested in employment and how this influenced your goals to become. The hard skills work tasks that you learned, experience and performed. Your ability to point out the actions of this learned hard skill. In gathering these combined skills we are now ready to complete our work resume and learn it. Last, is to practice your presentation and be confident. Tell your story of the importance of your job role in an interview.

Time Management and Prioritization: Prioritize Tasks: Identify and focus on high-priority tasks. Set Clear Goals: Align daily activities with overarching goals. Time Blocking: Allocate dedicated time for specific tasks. Eliminate Distractions: Minimize interruptions to enhance focus. Regular Review: Assess and adjust priorities regularly. Efficient time management and prioritization ensure productivity and goal achievement.

Focus on what is important. plan accordingly and make sure you are flexible to deal with emergencies. there are different techniques and methods that could apply to you based on your characteristics and your role... The key is to avoid distractions and maximize the outcome.

Focus on developing core career, job and delegation skills to optimum level for efficiency and effectiveness. This releases more time that you can use to invest in personal and career development without sacrificing service quality. A key foundation to succeed here is learning to align your career and jobs to your life's purpose and passion. This aligns your energy and satisfaction to your career and jobs. With more time, continuously develop required key skills for the current and next level job to the highest level possible. Effective delegation means having full grasp of the larger job picture, and mentoring your direct reports to enable optimum job performance that equally frees more time for service quality improvement.

This is a life-long endeavor! Time and priorities... ever changing and you cannot buy time; it's once and done. In business, I refer much to the Entrepreneur's Operating System (EOS) and rocks analysis to analogize time and priorities - especially when teaching leaders or going into big projects. It's easy for all of us to raise discussions around unimportant things (sometimes its an escape), but at the end of the day - work has to get done and we have to be the good stewards of the business. To keep focus, I use the 90 day model for most action planning and near-horizon projects. What must be done now, what are the risks for-doing/not-doing and what are the opportunity costs. This has been an effective approach for me on projects.

To add on this, an effective way to manage your time & priorities is by using Eisenhower's Matrix. This matrix is a Four quadrant layout that enables one to organise daily tasks/responsibilities & guide one to see what should be prioritised in his or her life.

We are infectious! In the 90's on a big project; much on mind; I'd been traveling all year. Walking up steps to a fed bldg. in DC, my peripheral vision taking the environment in 180 degrees. As I approached steps, I noticed a woman panhandling, she'd been asking all passers by within voice reach, for help. My focus elsewhere, head slightly down, eye brows were tight in thought about my tasks. As I walked past, the woman turned her back to me, a few feet later it struck me how strange that was. I turned to the woman and said, "I noticed you were asking everyone for help, why not ask me?" She replied, "you looked mean!" I asked her what she wanted to eat, bought her food and gave her $20 and thanked her dearly! Be self-aware of your presence!

I would say that you can read as much as you want, and you should focus on articles that help you develop your skills in this area, however, nothing is more valuable than talking to those you serve and hearing the hard feedback to ensure you are meeting needs where you can, and engaging in solution-focused conversations.

People entering professional jobs with only education learning would be considered an entry level contributor to the employer. Meaning that without the direct skills of years in working with the process, product or people in these fields, you could not enter a job “hitting the ground running”. Basically, getting better on the job based on time and repetition of different work experience outcomes. Gathering and collecting these job experiences and circumstances to develop an expertise. I have been in the field of Employment services for over 10 years.
