Don't be so robotic. Don't just check off all these items like it's a grocery list to repeat to someone. The quickest way to put yourself at the bottom of a pile is to show no hint of an agreeable personality. Don't take it too far though. If the job is more conservative in nature, don't overdo it. This comes back to researching where you're interviewing.

Then, think of examples from your work, education, or volunteer experience that demonstrate those skills and competencies. Choose examples that are relevant, recent, and impressive. For each example, write down the key points of the situation, task, action, and result using the STAR format. Practice saying your answers out loud or with a friend. When in the interview, listen carefully to the question and identify which skill or competency it is targeting. Then select the most appropriate example from your prepared list and use the STAR format to deliver your answer. Be concise, specific, and confident when speaking. To do this, you can use the CARL method to add more depth and detail to your answers. CARL stands for Context, Action, Result, and Learning. It includes the purpose, scope, or significance of the scenario, as well as the rationale, logic, or reasoning behind your actions. Additionally, it includes the feedback, recognition, or appreciation you received from the experience. The STAR-L method can also be used to add emotion and personality to your answers. STAR-L stands for Situation, Task, Action, Result, and Link. Link is an additional element that shows how your example relates to the job, company or interviewer. You can show enthusiasm or passion for the role with this element. Additionally, storytelling techniques such as setting the scene, creating suspense and using dialogue can make your answers more engaging and memorable for the interviewer.
