It's important to stay in touch with the University emails to provide guidance and help. Here's a short story: As soon as I graduated, I received an email from the Graduate college requesting to enroll for mentorship program. This email will be sent to all the recent international student graduates in the university. I took up the opportunity since I'd no one to guide me through the challenges I faced when I moved to a different country. I connect with people on Linkedin, at university conducted events, through mentorship program, through personal emails. I attend university events as a SPEAKER or PANEL MEMBER to help clarify student's queries. Be it a professional, personal, course related advice etc.,

The key is to listen to alumni and respond in a personalized manner, for instance, inviting an alum who frequently reads music articles to a music festival. Alumni engagement's role is to fill the pipeline for philanthropy. By understanding your core objective (philanthropic support), you can begin to find the correlation between active engagement and giving. For example, through data analysis, I discovered that alums registered for a school-sponsored trip were most likely to give between 5 months and 60 days of departure.

The most impactful way to boost alumni engagement is to truly hear our alumni. This can be achieved by establishing a voice of alumni program that spans across all departments - leadership gifts, annual giving, alumni relations, IS&T, Dean of Students, and more. This ambitious undertaking, once realized, will have a profound effect on our philanthropy, engagement, and admissions. To kickstart this, we must first evaluate our current situation. What surveys are we conducting? What surveys are other departments conducting? Is MarCom conducting a survey concurrently with Planned Giving, asking similar questions? Are they sharing their results? Where is the data being directed (it should be directed back to the CRM).

Enhancing alumni engagement can greatly benefit both educational institutions and their graduates. Here are some effective strategies to create vibrant alumni network: 1. Customize communication for various alumni groups to form connections by networking sessions & webinars to share valuable experiences. 2. Link alumni with current students for structured mentorship that fosters knowledge sharing. 3. Connect on LinkedIn to build community & share stories such as alumni successes in newsletters & social media. 4. Collect Feedback to improve engagement efforts. 5. Encourage alumni participation in events, internships & acknowledge contributions. 6. Facilitate teamwork between alumni & students. 7. Build associations for organized engagement.

The most effective way to demonstrate alumni engagement is through storytelling. Stewardship is a prime example of this. They adeptly explain the driving force behind a gift and its impact. We can apply the same approach to alumni stories. For instance, when an alum speaks at an event, a student's interest is piqued, leading to an internship offer. This is a compelling story that can be shared across various platforms such as networking sites, newsletters, magazines, and admissions packets. However, These stories won't materialize without a listening system. It's crucial to establish methods for gathering two types of data: operational data (event attendance, donations...) and experience data (attitude toward school, networking stories).

Here's another story I'd like to share: University graduate college requests feedback from students to identify if everything is okay or any improvements are needed. Point to be considered here is, improvements considers so many categories such as course related difficulties, professional guidance, transportation, housing, cafeterias and many more. Believe me, I myself and asked my closest friends to provide their genuine feedback in that form and the University did take actions on transportation, course-work, cafeterias, university website too.
