How do you find the best Web3 jobs?

Here is my process to find the BEST jobs in web3 for my candidates. 1) Check job boards and set alerts (you can do this on LinkedIn too.) That way, when a job is posted related to your search you will get a notification immediately! 2) Be active on Twitter (X) founders are constantly posting that they are hiring there. Do a keyword search on "crypto hiring" and see what comes up! 3) Go to your favorite project websites. Click on the menu or scroll to the bottom to find their career page. 4) Reach out on Discord. Many founders and leaders can be found on their Discord channel. Contribute to their channel then DM! 5) Reach out directly on LinkedIn with a THOUGHTFUL message. You don't want to send the standard template, put in effort!

How you can capitalize on web3? - Services that help the industry scale (development, marketing, smart contract audits & so on) - Buying cheaper assets, to resell when appreciated (buy BTC for $30k and sell then for $60k) - Build your web3 project and get succeed as an entrepreneur. Note my words, in 7 years we won't be seeing any Web3-related businesses. All of them to some extent would be integrated somehow in the web3 tool pack.

You can start by following profile publications like coingecko, bitcoinmagazine, forklog, cointelegraph and others. They publish daily up-to-date information on web3 events and new players on the market.

Here's what else to consider too: many of the skills you already have are entirely translatable into web3. Maybe you're doing BD, partnerships, whatever it may be. These are absolutely skills we need in web3 too! The fact that this is a new-ish field has us all on the same boat. Bring what you know and take time to learn as you go.

Understanding your niche in Web3 is crucial. It's like being a chef specializing in a specific cuisine. Explore different domains like finance or gaming. Dive into dApps, protocols, and platforms that spark your interest. Learn their vision and roadmap. Immerse yourself in the culture by joining forums, subscribing to newsletters, listening to podcasts, and attending events. Networking is key. Find where your passion meets the market's needs. This approach will guide you to the best Web3 opportunities.

Like any other field of business, web3 combines different professions and skills. But since this niche is new and little information is available in centralized sources and books, you need to do your own re-survey of the latest trends, innovations, events and black swans. Once you are in the flow, the world of web3 will become comfortable and understandable for you

This is especially important for those who want to convert from their current industry to web3 with no professional experience to list on their resume: I suggest that when you are formatting your resume, after your "Overview" at the top of your resume put a "Web3 Involvement" section. This is were you can provide a bullet point list of your personal and/or professional experience in the space. You can include: Events, Conferences, Speaking, Hackathons, DAOs, Groups, NFT, Projects, Dapps, Podcasts, Twitter Spaces, Discords, Reddit Groups, Github projects, Investing, etc. Whether you've done it for pay, no pay, a company or yourself, we want to see it. This helps recruiters immediately understand your involvement.

The no 1 way to build authority in the space and manage to get the attention of your target audience (recruiters, founders, potential collaborators) is to build a personal brand in the Web3 space. You do that by: - Posting thought leadership content on Linkedin, Twitter - Attending Web3 events and networking - Networking online and and sharing value and insights with other people in your niche Tip: Don't be afraid to reach out to people in the industry and network, chances are they are already willing and looking for potential collaborators/hires/etc themselves

To stand out in Web3, treat your skills like a product display. Blend technical and creative talents - coding, design, marketing. Build a portfolio highlighting your Web3 projects. Be it development or contributions, let your work speak. Writing blogs or tutorials on Web3 showcases your expertise. Participate in hackathons and bounties. These are your showrooms to demonstrate real-world problem-solving abilities. It's about showing how you add value and embody the Web3 spirit.

Get involved in as many communities as you can, build relationships with the team, search for bounties online where you can showcase your skills on real problems, and contribute to open-source projects.

Yes, of course, like any other industry there are different areas: GameFi, Defi, Dapp, Exchange, MM, Marketing etc. Even in the companies themselves there are different departments and directions. Plus you need to decide for yourself whether you want to work in a startup where you have to do a lot of manual work and create, or in an established company with its own rules and principles

Finding the right fit in Web3 is like matchmaking for your career. It's not just about ticking the boxes for skills; it's about aligning your heartbeat with the organization's rhythm. Remote or office-based? Startup energy or corporate stability? Full-throttle or flex-time? Your choice should mirror your lifestyle and values. Dive into each organization’s ethos - their mission, culture, and vision. A good strategy? Network with current and past employees. Their insights are gold, painting a real picture of your potential future in the ecosystem.

Finding the right fit comes down to the problems you are passionate about solving. Work out what you like about the industry, what you don't and where you would like to focus the most time.

In essence, the Web3 world is not so different from the other industries. There is a product or service that needs to be developed/ designed, the product needs to be marketed, and the product needs to be sold. Being passionate about crypto or Bitcoin is a pre, but I know a lot of folks who made the switch in 2017-2019. Depending on your current occupation, a lot is possible in the Web3 world. While some jobs may require more knowledge about certain topics such as smart contract development, liquidity, staking, most of the jobs are just a normal function, focussed on Web3. Dive into some topics, find the ones that interest you and hunt for information on the world wide web. The answers and knowledge is located under your thumb!

Blockchain is a global and small space. Build your relationships online, in person and in conferences and ask around whenever you have a prospective employer in process. Don't be afraid to ask the hirer questions. Lots of questions! Web3 is an industry where those that question, and learn, fast - thrive. This gives you more info about the company and puts you in good stead on the company. Check out their website, their team their socials. If they are onchain, use analytics like DefiLlama, Dune, etc to look at their metrics. Check out their product - come up with thoughtful questions about why they made product decisions and what's next. This gives you good insight into the company's values, decision making matrix, and situation.

In fact, even on traditional resources there are many offers from web3 companies, you can find them by keywords: blockchain, web3, crypto, dapp, defi etc. Even on the same linkendin you can search for web3 companies and see if they are currently hiring. Even if they are not, it always makes sense to write to a recruiter and send your resume, maybe they will make an exception for you🤓

If you see the job posted, try showing your creativity by reaching out in a web3 way. We recently hired a web3 BD lead, and many candidates found my telegram and DM'ed me about the role directly. That's the kind of passion and resourcefulness that I and many other web3 hiring managers appreciate!

As a Web3 leader I have never hired any via a dedicated web3 site or platform but mostly sourced from recommendations and sourcing via communities, events, etc

'Traditional' jobs or sectors are less direct than the crypto and Web3 space. In Web3, you can often find a manager, a head of, or C-level posting about the company or crypto in general. By connecting with them on LinkedIn and Twitter/ 𝕏 you have the opportunity to get in their line of sight. We have worked with a lot of people who just reached out to us via Twitter.

There are some great platforms out there, unfortunately, a lot of Web3 roles are filled through referrals, networking and Web3-specific recruiters ( hint: drop me a message :D ). However, there are specific job boards to look at (a quick google search will bring up loads). Apply through those but don't rely on that to get you a job. Find and connect with the founders of the projects you apply to either on LinkedIn or Twitter, let them know you've applied and why you've applied, and join their community - think outside the box to get in front of people. Just applying to a job advert on a Web3 job board/platform and then sitting back and waiting to be called isn't going to work well for you.

Participate in AMA sessions from big brands and fresh startups, where you can interact directly with the executive team, learn from their experience and get answers to your questions. Plus you can ask if they are seeking for a pro like you😃

Attend Web3-focused events, conferences, and meetups. These gatherings provide opportunities to network with industry professionals, learn about the latest developments, and potentially discover job openings.

Start a side project out of love for the space and a way to prove that you're dedicated to learning and understanding web3. I didn't have any professional web3 experience but my newsletter that was focused around the intersection of web3 and streetwear proved I had a passion and was willing to put my own time in to start building my expertise.

You could make a case for understanding the current state of Web3 as being your best investment of time and/or money right now. Why? Because decentralization has proven to be the future of vast parts of tech, and the security, flexibility, and irrevokable ownership of blockchain has only just started to reshape how we talk and think about tech. Take Gaming as an example; imagine a world where you're able to buy and sell truly secure commodities "mined" online. Your daily play could be funding the rest of your life, even if you're not streaming on Twitch. All because of actually scarce items. Moral of the story? Get in, get involved, and get ready to be helping your family to understand Web3 as the resident expert.

Web3 employers struggle to get many female applicants, and many women tell me they don't apply for Web3 roles because they don't feel qualified 'enough'. However, Web3 is a new space where everyone is on a learning journey! My advice in particular to women would be to apply even if you don't feel 'ready'. If you've got the right skills to do the job, you can gain more of the knowledge once you've got the role! (it's much harder to train for skills than knowledge) There are several jobs boards and talent collectives aimed at women, and even grants available for training.

Firms building Web3 products often have openings. Check LinkedIn for open roles at Web3 startups or projects. Filter by keywords like "blockchain," "cryptocurrency," etc. Follow leading Web3 leaders on Twitter. They may tweet or retweet good opportunities. Attend local crypto/Web3 meetups to network and hear of openings. Consider freelancing to get experience. Then, transition to full-time Web3 roles later. Learn in-demand Web3 skills so you can qualify for more positions.

Tip: Don't hesitate to reach out and connect with Web3 industry professionals and network. Often, they are actively seeking potential collaborators, hires, or partners themselves.

Craft a compelling CV, add an outstanding post to it, if you have a portfolio - attach it, if not - content is the best way to showcase your skills and knowledge/experience.
