Measuring or evaluating individual performance in a collaborative result is most challenging task as every one think that his/her role & contributions was critical to acheive the goal. Best indicators to measure & evalute own performance during a collaborative process is to Quantify Efforts : 1. Objectives acheived that were set for a successful collaboration 2. Percentage of Contribution (e.g. 45%) of money/cost made for successful collaboration 2. Time allotted while participating in the collaborative process 3. Skills used 4. Quality of efforts

Define or consider what 'best' looks like. Walk your concept through a framework such as SMART, individually and critique (honestly) your undertaking. Remember you will be collaborating, so if you don't 100% buy into what you are trying to achieve it is unlikely your collaborators will. Also, take time to understand the other pressures on your potential collaborators, the adage of 'one volunteer being worth ten pressed men' hold true. The objectives, and therefore goal(s) should be clearly defined in terms of external customer / stakeholder benefits and internal improvements - with a high degree of bias towards the external if applicable.

The value of a simple 'Thank You' should never be underestimated. Awards, celebrations all have their place, but engage with other or more senior peers or colleagues to buy into the 'Thank You" approach. An individual or individuals receiving praise for a project, task or item involving collaboration from the wider organisation creates value and can be used to support attainment and other ratings. Creating a culture of collaboration, using even a simple 'Thank You' as a most basic reward, opens the potential willingness for future collaboration on future items, from individuals not involved in the current project for those that are attuned to a collaborative mindset. Go big on praise.
