We are using a centralized data management tool and keeping track of each resume and interview happing in our company. We came to know that within a few years, only we have taken so many interviews and along with time, that talent will grow in the market and we might approach them in the future too. I’ve seen many startups not put thought into a system or an ATS and scatter to find notes on candidates they’ve met previously or simply aren’t sure they’ve met. Also keep in mind that a positive process will be beneficial to building your brand and facilites the recruitment of good candidates.

Happy employees, regardless of role or level, make the best recruiters. People want to go where other people are happy. Encourage your team to talk about work on social media.

Most success hiring efforts in my experience happened when we were all hiring. As someone who was lucky to drive hyper growth efforts for Meta, Booking.com, Wayfair or Criteo, global tech companies with niche tech needs, I realized very quickly that the strong hiring culture will be key in achieving our goals and hire amazing talent. Developing a hiring culture needs: 1. Transparent recruitment process 2. Structured interview process 3. Onboarding for hiring managers and interviewers 4. Diverse interviewer teams 5. Co-creation of key elements of the process with the business 6. Effective tooling 7. Continuous shared communication - celebrating wins and losses together with all involved.

Every business, once off the ground should have a hiring team and strategy. Once you are off the ground and have sufficient runway, build a hiring plan. You'll have a clear volume need to hire engineers and/or sales people. Hire in someone with this expertise. This focus on volume will save time and money, of the person is any good. But don't think that they can, or will, hire every role. When making single, business critical hires, use and external partner that specializes in those. That way you'll be saving your hiring budget for using the right tool for the right hire.

Here are my favorite ways: -Advanced Training: Pursue advanced training, seminars, and workshops that cover intricate hiring aspects like employer branding, advanced interview techniques, and data-driven recruitment. -Technology Investment: Utilize recruiting software and tools, including ATS and AI-driven platforms, to streamline the hiring process and gather data-driven insights. - Expand Your Team: As your startup expands, consider hiring experienced HR or talent acquisition professionals to bring new expertise to your hiring efforts. -Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of ongoing improvement by regularly evaluating and adjusting your recruitment strategies based on feedback from candidates and hiring managers.

Make it a purpose to guarantee an inclusive and fair recruitment process. There are many things that can be done and should in time, but the following 5 weight the most: 1. Inclusive language, this meaning free of stereotyping, microagressions, assumptions both in ads, employer branding comms and interview process 2. Informed recruiters and interviewers about the state of DEI in the organization. 3. Educated interviewers about inclusive benefits and accessibility options 4. Option to take any skills tests in a variety of ways (home assignment, whiteboard, online timed, etc) one way does not fit all 5. Tooling allowing for complete note taking and transparent decision making and enabling the teams to maximize usage.

Hiring is just like marketing. You don’t only use facebook ads to promote a product or event - same applies to your roles. Adopting a test and learn mindset across sourcing channels is key to success.

With anything, you need to review your progress, assess, iterate, and improve. Same goes with hiring. Are there other channels you are missing? Where is the leak in the hiring bucket/funnel? Ask candidates for feedback. The list goes on...

I agree and to add a few more points to consider. - Pay attention to the "decision" once the structure and plans are in place. Who is making decisions? Based on what kind of standards? The end goal is to hire the right fit, but not what so-called the "best". The process and decision will define how far our business will go because our company is based on the People. - Pay attention to the "Culture". Walk away from the interview to clearly understand the goal of the candidate and decide whether it's fit for the organization's goal. That's the start to form a culture in the company.

This is all accurate. One of the keys is to realize that, as a start up partner, is that you likely have little experience in certain aspects of business. Accounting, budgets, customer service, logistics, warehousing, hiring and firing staff, HR duties, benefits, and far more. As a result, you should reach out to these professionals for advice as you are getting rolling ( if not before ). What is your plan? Timeline? When do you expect to need additional help? What kind of help might you need? There is absolutely no reason for you to stumble through it and make it up as you go along. Find professionals who do well the things you do not. Listen to them. The better your plan is, the more success you are likely to have.

Retaining a strong team saves you cost of constant replacing. Think Global, Act Local: Hiring remote talent has been a game-changer. It’s allowed us to tap into global talent while reducing costs significantly. However, keep in mind that local nuances matter. Whether it’s understanding the work culture in Latin America or knowing the holidays in the Philippines, be mindful of the regional differences. The rush to scale can sometimes push companies to treat hiring as just another checkbox. Every candidate interaction should be respectful and thoughtful.
