How do you streamline your recruitment process with ATS?

ATS has been very helpful in ensuring a seamless recruiting process, from receiving applications to sorting for qualified candidates, to scheduling candidates for interviews and also the onboarding process. In my experience, I have observed that it is extremely important to actually test ATS systems to confirm they can provide the solution you seek, since every organization has its own peculiarity, so the fact that it worked for organization A does not necessarily mean it will work for your organization.

ATS plays a very important role in today's competitive world. It helps in making sure of compliance, accurate data & yes ofcourse transparency. This helps in creating a discipline in the end to end recruitment process for all - Recruiters, Hiring Managers, HRBPs & Candidates as well.

Several questions that you need to answer before choosing the right ATS: 1. Flexible in customization to your business process? 2. Allow integration with other system? Such as; assessment, email notif, chat apps, calendar management apps, esign apps, onboarding system, employee central data, job boards / professional social media platform lile linkedin, etc. 3. Provide comprehensive and flexible reporting? 4. Provide hiring manager portal, recruiter portal and also candidate portal? 5. Have capability on parsing / ocr not only for single profile but also in bulk? 6. Can tag and provide journal to put note on the job / candidate profile? 7. Compliance with GPDR or similar data privacy rules?

ATS is simple, easy to use when you are trained to optmally utilize it. It shortens the timeframe of recruitment and prevents unnecessary delays and repetition. While hundreds of ATS are available to use, it puts pressure on users to keep up as they move from one organization to another.

Candidates are now getting smarter with strategies to beat ATS specially during shortlisting stage using the power of right keywords and even generative AI. With the evolving technology there is also a need to evolve ATS to also consider human aspects rather than just keywords.

One of the most useful aspects of an ATS for me are the knockout questions. Not necessarily to disqualify people from the gate, but to batch applicants so that I can screen them efficiently. For example, if a bachelors degree is strongly preferred, but not necessarily required, I may add that as a knockout question. Now I can screen these applicants in batches. If you are intentional with your knockout questions, they can be an extremely useful tool for screening candidates efficiently.
