Introducing AI-driven tools to traditional farmers is a promising advancement that can significantly enhance agricultural productivity. Something important to recall when we are fostering partnerships is that partners include those on the ground, including farmhands. This also creates an additional feedback channel needed to see if these systems are actually working as intended. This focus helps with return on investment as well as engendering more trust between the farmhand and those who are deploying the system.

Something I've found the most useful in creating effective systems is creating a working lexicon or dictionary of terms collaboratively. The definition of safety surrounding a system will change depending on if a roboticist uses it versus a farm manager. Sitting partners down and encouraging them to jointly create definitions surrounding a system helps demonstrate these differences to them, and shows how hard consensus can be to people such as developers who assume a unified approach to their system. This exercise also helps create relationships and open conversations between different partners using and creating these systems.
