Team members clash over quality control on the assembly line. How can you ensure smooth operations?

One I found it helpful is that having open discussion in team should be encourage, and for better quality quality standards shall be considered. So discussion in team will be helpful for the better understanding of the quality standards that should be meet

Team members clashing over quality of the product is a good sign, at least everyone in the team is aware the importance of product quality and everyone in the team are ensuring the right product is delivered to customer. One way of ensuring no conflict within the team, is to create a visual alert of defects occur during production, and the same to be displayed at workstations.

The idea of open dialogue needs to be in the genesis of a project. If all of the requirements are known at the beginning, control plan conception, and design stages then the "clashing" should be a minimal once it is on the floor. Known requirements should be designed into the equipment up front. Then the only issue will be the qualification and acceptance of the equipment when it is turned over to production. After that the proper QSL levels will continually verify the process is in control.

One of the ways to avoid conflict is by following a maker-checker mechanism wherein the person on line who makes the product isn’t the same person checking it because he/she will be biased in checking process. Additionally, automating the process and bringing in digital systems for quality control further mitigate risk of conflict.

Como estandar se debe de basar el trabajo en documentos y procesos; el proceso debe incluir que cada miembro del equipo dentro de su contribucion no acepte, no genere y no envie defectos. Detener el proceso al primer defecto y reiniciar una vez que se tenga una solucion, aunque sea provisional y persistir en el proceso de solucion de problemas estandarizado.

Lets roll up your sleeves and to this simple thing i.e. If conflicts arise, address them promptly and professionally. Use mediation techniques if necessary to find common ground and resolve disagreements constructively.

This term has been used for quite a while. empowering an employee sounds great but getting them to be a stake is so much better. I ask my people to take ownership and be proud of their production. I try to praise them as much as possible. I will have a cookout day with them after a project and thank them all for the effort. it is amazing what people will do when they know they and their work is appreciated

I have been a manufacturing engineer (ME) for may years in the past. I find it unique that now we have to have "Continuous Improvement" engineers. That should be the first thing that an ME is doing. Take what we have and make it better improve safety, quality, and output. many of the projects i have done as an ME came from the people that run the equipment. a simple how can i make this task easier can do wonders and by doing projects that the operators told you about makes them better at giving us more items to make it all better. If we do this right then our existing machinery and companies will pay the way for the next new thing coming down the road.

Communicate and assess: Two aspect is very important for solving any conflict in manufacturing, one is to communicate openly with everyone and find what others have to say. The second one is correct and accurate assessment which is crucial in creating seamless manufacturing line and great product. So my thoughts on the subject are as follows. You should already have a standardized process in place with upper and lower specs already set. If something unusual or out of the norm shows up then you utilize technology at hand to to continuously improve your process. Then implement conflict resolution to adjust the standardized process.
