That is, you can always do an insert of the change leaving all prior changes intact. This avoids the update challenges and is very performant, at least for the insert. Then create a view, or two, one that provides only the most 'current' change. And one that includes all changes where the 'begin/end' timestamps are derived from the set of rows per natural key of table. I have used this especially on MPP style architectures as doing inserts is much preferred to updates.

I'd suggest the bigger question isn't what are best practices for dimensional modeling, but why would we engage in it at all? Dimensional modeling was created to deal with the physical limitations of the time, in the 1990s. As a side effect, it became a source of update anomalies, extended ingestion pipelines and a vector for many errors. Today, we're not subjected to those limitations, so we can leverage more logical frameworks.
