The best method of treating or neutralizing any natural or accidental emergency is to conduct a detailed risk assessment in which all the vulnerabilities need to be recorded and accordingly the aims, objectives and scope of a contingency plan to be formulated. This way we will be realistic and effective in our approach to deal with the hurricanes through application of contingency plans.

The true test of any hurricane is how well we can get people of all ages and pets to safety. During Katrina it was much worse because people did not have bunkers to go into and they thought they could ride the storm out. The elderly and handicapped did not preplan to escape to a safe shelter so and rescue teams were deployed to bring these people to a safe location. When the POTUS goes directly to a devastated area and takes immediate care of these families in dire need, the monies get put into place before more people die or are impacted for life. The AIHA goes to the area and trains people how to wear protective suits and calculate heat stress to prevent further stress to this physical hazard, same as the BP oil spill.
