If you call a method directly, there is coupling, be sync or async. If you call a method through an interface, there is no coupling (or decoupling if you prefer), be it async or sync. So, except if you specify what kind of coupling you are talking about (like coupling to a thread or similar) then there is no point in talking about coupling. Also, if the coupling is to a thread, we can say that the rule gets inverted, coupling becomes good and easier to manage while decoupling means hard to maintain.
