It depends on the level of design. Is it for a large company like the Gap or even Urban Outfitters? Or in a more niche upper market company who will already have a strong customer base. I feel that for the collection to have 'teeth'...it would need to start with the silhouettes in sketch form to get a good sense of the wider vision. That is how I pulled together a few interview projects. Then see the individual pieces as flats with realistic fabric choices. This then can start to show if the collection as a whole will feel strong as actual pieces. Most of all ...be very honest with yourself and others about it...and don't try to rush.
