What are the most effective international organization models for addressing global challenges?

Addressing global challenges requires effective international cooperation, and there are several models for international organizations that have proven effective in this regard. The choice of model often depends on the specific challenge, the scope of the problem, and the willingness of nations to cooperate. The choice of model or combination of models depends on the nature of the global challenge and the political will of nations to work together. Effective global governance often involves a mix of these models, with collaboration and coordination being key to finding solutions to complex global problems.

My opinion about IGOs is that; they have mastered most of the terrain where they are operating but they need to do more in the area of holding government MDAs accountable in term of funding that they have made available to them. Sometimes it may be hard to hold government agencies accountable by themselves but employing civil society to carryout this function will help in resolving this issue I have identified

One of the main issues confronting NGOs, especially the startups are funding, collaborations and navigating regulation platform required to have good standing. These issues are often associated with startup NGOs working on issues of policies, accountability and other intangible issues. Most times they are confronted with but financial and acceptance issues not only from government but from fellow civil societies where they operate. For example Acthub has been working of promoting good governance for over 8 years and yet to get funding support to scale its effort.

To address most of their challenges MNCs should employ domestic method of leveraging on the existing platform in their places of operations and manpower. To ensure standard they should train their representatives in the countries where they have expanded to and ensure that they cascaded it to other officials.

From my “glocal” experience multilevel multistakeholder participation in policy development is key to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and thematic objectives of the International Decade for People of African Descent. For example, the UN Secretary General recently announced increased participation of the private sector is essential to successfully achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. However, in my humble opinion this must be within a human rights framework for development, and not provide another excuse for capitalistic (over) exploitation of human labour and other resources. Civil society and other stakeholders must therefore play a vital role in monitoring implementation of SDG Targets and Indicators.

Hybrid Organizations (HOs) play a key role in addressing complex global challenges by combining elements of many types of international organizations. HO provides innovative solutions and promotes collaboration between different sectors, bridging the gap between IGOs, NGOs and multinational companies. Despite its potential, there are difficulty defining its identity, managing conflicting interests, and ensuring cohesion and accountability. Finding a balance between flexibility and structure remains a central theme in their effectiveness.
