Unlike most of the university, my social work program was taught mostly by people who weren't researchers. Without that type of mentorship it becomes impossible to foster an environment of social innovation and entrepreneurship. Coming from Sciences where everything is constantly evolving, social work is stagnant. Many of the policies and processes are rooted in the last century. New ideas are routinely dismissed and students are actively discouraged from deviating from the firmly entrenched status quo.
