Its early days yet but GenAI based virtual avatars can be used in customer acquisition. The conversations between the avatar and the customers can be very interactive ( like 2 people talking) where AI can advise the customer on product choices and financial decisions for acquiring a credit card, loan, insurance policy or opening a bank account. This technology is expected to significantly enrich digital experiences for customers in the financial services industry.

Although still in its embryonic stage in production systems, AI will undoubtedly become indispensable in various procedures of regulated financial actors. AI can be used to analyze and pre-process "atypical" transactions as part of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) procedures, which may lead to the filing of suspicious activity reports. Furthermore, AI will likely play a key role in proactively (rather than retroactively, as is often the case today) detecting patterns of market manipulation, order book tampering, and potential conflicts of interest in regulated market infrastructures.

AI in customer servicing in my mind has a plethora of use cases 1) AI leveraged Voice commands are becoming better with the output from various dialects improving allowing us to leverage virtual assistants for reminders, performing tasks 2) Real time Monitoring and responses that companies can enable on social media for callouts , feedback’s, mentions 3) This one is very powerful of visual searches , little kids do this really well - “visual objects searching “ AI-driven visual search technology, allowing us to upload images , find similar products, enhancing the shopping experience. 4)the entire pricing play which is hyper personalised basis preferences , behaviours , market trends . It seamlessly happens depending on the customer

It's clear that replacing traditional support with chatbots leads to tangible operational gains and is relatively simple to implement today. However, many support interactions require personalized attention, and customers can quickly become disillusioned if they feel they are not being adequately considered because they are interacting with an AI. The solution, until AI becomes sophisticated enough to handle exceptions, is to maintain customer support staffed by real people. However, their responses and efficiency can be enhanced by AI that performs initial data processing and suggests adaptable responses. This approach balances the efficiency of AI with the personalized touch that human interaction provides.

I would not limit the effectiveness of AI to streamlining processes & interactions here, but especially also focus on the personalization of customer interactions. Trained on proprietary customer data, LLMs can give unprecedented insights, enabling a customer service previously impossible. Take Trading & Investments as an example. If the AI understands the users trading behaviors, biases, emotions, and possibly even early churn indicators, it can give tailored insights to a user (such as explanations or analyses) at exactly the right time in the user journey.

Although AI can streamline a lot of chat support process it might not always be the best tool to utilise when it comes to customer interactions. Let’s divide customer interactions into two broad categories from a company’s perspective , i) Information dissemination ii) Grievance redressal From what I’ve observed, AI seems to be best suited for the former, wherein customer may have multitude of queries wrt to the product/service. Which can be addressed by a bot build on LLM and custom database. As far as Grievance redressal is concerned I feel the best approach is to categorise complaints according to severity and route mid & high severity complaints to a human agent who can emphatically talk to customers.

I believe the race of fully automated AI trading strategies will be won by the guys with deep pockets, however retail traders can still greatly benefit: As stated, reducing human error, biases, and emotions can greatly benefit, and those are the exactly the areas in which retail traders struggle a lot. There are AI tools now already that can detect the following: - Revenge Trading - Fighting the Trend - Over trading - FOMO into trades - Trying to catch a falling knife The more data the AI gets on your personal trading, the better it understands your biases and emotion-triggers. I do believe AI will rather sooner than later play a crucial role in protecting users from their own biases and emotion

One of the best use cases for AI in Fintech which is currently being explored is in the domain of Financial Inclusion. Ai can be used to educate the folks at grassroots level about various financial services, government scheme in their local languages. AI can also be used to create personas for these folks and recommend the right bucket of financial products/services that these folks should uptake along with a long term plan for including them into the formal financial ecosystem.
