To address resistance to market shifts, I leverage the ADKAR Change Model (Awareness, Desire, Knowledge, Ability, Reinforcement). I used this model to guide my team during a sales system overhaul, creating awareness about the shift, offering tailored training, and reinforcing progress through regular check-ins. Engaging key stakeholders ensured smoother adoption. For a deep dive into managing resistance, read "Leading Change" by John Kotter. To address resistance to market shifts, communicate the urgency and benefits of adapting. Share data and case studies to help people understand it and to buy it in. Involve teams in talking about strategy so they feel invested. In the past, I’ve done workshops to explain what was changing and to gather feedback which alleviated concerns and brought everyone along. Communication reinforces the change message and integration reduces resistance, which inherently makes it more collaborative.

Explain the "why" behind the changes, emphasizing the benefits to both the company and employees. Involve employees in the process, seeking their input and addressing their concerns. The internal resistance is probably one of the largest barriers during the implementation of a reconsideration of the market strategy We therefore need to explain the objectives clearly and incorporate the teams. Stress the adverse consequences and consequences of inertia & stress the advantages and impotence of change. Ensure you either train or offer sufficient support tools that will help in this docket. For instance, when there was a lot of resistance to accepting a new tool I would arrange for a works show casing on how effective it is and thus increase its acceptance. It also means that establishment of understanding and support ensures easier process of navigation towards the market requirements.
