The ability to adapt is very important in keeping on track when there are sudden shifts in project priorities. I quickly review the new priorities, break them into steps that can be acted upon, and align those with the main goals of the project. To make sure everyone understands what is going on I send a clear message to the team and other people involved. I also reassign resources where necessary as well as keeping an open mind about time frames. This is a proactive way of maintaining energy and keeping everything moving smoothly irrespective of any surprises.
