Once they identify the underlying issue, you can offer support or adjust their responsibilities accordingly. Offering support is so important. Mentoring and training go a long way. It is easy to put someone on a Performance Plan by checking the box and not doing anything to help the employee. Seen this. Standing up and yelling or embarrassing others in front of the team does not help a situation either which I have seen. Take a moment and look at the big picture and guide them to improve and see what they are missing. Could be they just do not understand or that the training that was given no longer applies and a change needs to be done. Providing confidence and encouragement goes a lot further then you might think. I have spent extra time/hours to assist to fix the problem in the past.
