I've had to learn - over the years - how to prioritize my tasks effectively and that method evolved to something that fit my style of working and what I am comfortable using. I would suggest to start off with a simple list - be it on a piece of paper or using excel - and maybe utilize the Eisenhower Matrix of categorizing your tasks accordingly and let that adapt over time and customize it to fit your style.

The first place to start is by looking at what your job entails and what tools are usually used in that field of work. For me - coming from an audit and finance background - it's using Excel. I've improved over the years and found more efficient methods of utilizing Excel from simple hotkeys to formulas for various tasks through the web and tips from colleagues. Your own company may have a portfolio of tools that's worth exploring. Lastly, you can always search for other tools that would either help supplement your work or propel your career and open up new opportunities, and these are accompanied by many useful videos and courses you can find online.

As a form of team building and growth, repeated delegation assists in boosting confidence of the team member and that helps with productivity and comfort within the work environment. As a manager, it also hinders your ability to identify mistakes whether it is large or small. This is mainly because you have too much on your hands. So delegate work, sit back and trust your team.

I find pausing, listing all the tasks & organising them from most important to least important, then breaking them down into smaller & more manageable tasks with defined “checkpoints” help considerably with managing overwhelming tasks.

This ensures that we have immediate access to information. Moreover, we can leverage periodic reports submitted to management as a quick reference for immediate information needs. These reports provide a snapshot of our financial status, enabling us to stay updated and respond promptly to inquiries or requirements from stakeholders. To ensure smooth operations, it's advisable to prioritize day-to-day entries and gradually tackle any backlogs during available time or by allocating extra hours, such as during weekends.
