One thing I’ve found helpful is to take notes as the parent(s) is talking. This shows parents you are taking their concerns seriously. In addition, you can use the notes to be sure you are responding to all concerns and can easily summarize at the end of the conference. A bonus is that should you need to conference with them again, you can easily refresh your memory about what was discussed, as well as agreed to by both parties.

Of course, parents with keen and passionate interest in the educational development of their children may challenge a teacher in respect to the methods deployed for his/her child. It's important for a teacher to know a learner beyond the surface that is, name and so on. A child's interest, background and multicultural environment are crucial. The understanding of these variables may be the missing gap between a teacher's approach and effectiveness. In the long, effectiveness is the underlining key.
