Working for a company that deals in fossil fuels may create the impression that there's no intention of transitioning to renewable energies. However, the reality is that fossil fuels contain hydrocarbons, which can be used to create various products besides fuel. Our main challenge is finding a way to switch from fossil fuels to renewables while overcoming the high cost of renewable energy sources compared to fossil fuels in our country.

I would not try to persuade them. Renewable energy is good for the short term but uses more energy to produce the turbine blades and solar panels than people think and take up a lot of real estate for the little amount of power they produce. Whereas power plants using fossil fuels produce more power and is readily available when needed. If anything, I would rather go nuclear power than anything especially if the argument is against the pollution factor.

Na minha opinião um equívoco que foi considerando em vários estudos de retorno de investimento, seja em projetos novos ou em ampliações ou reformas de UTEs a biomassa, foi que a conta sempre teria de ser paga integralmente pela receita da energia comercializada descontando os custos de O&M respectivamente. Só vi um projeto até hoje que fez esta análise correta separando os ganhos e incrementos técnicos e comerciais em cada processo.

Em 2020 concebemos uma planta termelétrica no Rio Grande do Sul, com 5 MW de capacidade instalada utilizando casca de arroz extraída do processo de beneficiamento e eliminando a dependência da planta da energia elétrica da concessionária. Temos aqui na RENOVA vários casos bem sucedidos do uso de energia renovável. Um dos mais importantes trata da geração de energia renovável com resíduos agroindustriais. Em 2018 concebemos uma planta termelétrica, em sistema de cogeração de energia, utilizando sabugo e palha de milho em uma fábrica de sementes em Minas Gerais substituindo assim o uso de GLP para geração de calor na secagem de espigas e também óleo diesel na geração elétrica. Foi um grande avanço ambiental, pensando na cadeia produtiva, além de também economizar o diesel utilizado para transportar o resíduo pouco denso até então.
